He was known for his pioneering work in the genre of horror films, particularly slasher films, where his impact on the genre was considered prolific and influential. Due to the success and cultural impact of his works in the horror film genre, Craven has been called a "Master of Horror".\n', '

He is best known for creating A Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream, featuring the characters of Freddy Krueger and Ghostface respectively. Some of his other films include The Last House on the Left, The Hills Have Eyes, Swamp Thing, The Serpent and the Rainbow, The People Under the Stairs, Vampire in Brooklyn, and Red Eye.\n', '

Craven was born in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Caroline (née Miller) and Paul Eugene Craven. He was raised in a strict Baptist family. Craven earned an undergraduate degree in English and psychology from Wheaton College in Illinois and a master\'s degree in philosophy and writing from Johns Hopkins University.\n', '
