Keith Haring (1958-1990) was an American artist known for his bold and colorful graffiti-inspired paintings and public art. He was born on May 4, 1958, in Reading, Pennsylvania, and showed an early interest in art.
Haring attended the Ivy School of Professional Art in Pittsburgh before moving to New York City in 1978. He quickly became involved in the city's burgeoning art scene, and his distinctive style of bold lines and bright colors made his work instantly recognizable.
In the 1980s, Haring's work became increasingly political, addressing issues such as AIDS, nuclear disarmament, and apartheid. He also created numerous public art installations, including murals in New York City subway stations and on the Berlin Wall.
Haring's work has been widely exhibited around the world, and he is considered one of the most important and influential artists of the 20th century. He died on February 16, 1990, in New York City at the age of 31 from complications due to AIDS. His legacy as an artist and activist continues to inspire and influence contemporary artists today.
