Albert W. Hall is an American actor and musician born on November 10, 1937, in Brighton, Alabama, United States.

Hall began his career as a musician, playing the trumpet with various jazz and R&B bands in the 1960s and 1970s. He toured with Duke Ellington and Count Basie, among others. He also worked as a music teacher in schools in Michigan and Tennessee.

Hall made his acting debut in 1979 with a small role in the film "Apocalypse Now". He went on to appear in several other films, including "St. Elsewhere", "Ally McBeal", "ER", and "Grey's Anatomy".

Hall is perhaps best known for his role as Chief Phillips in the 1995 film "Apollo 13", for which he received critical acclaim. He also appeared in the films "Malcolm X", "Beloved", and "The Perfect Storm".

In addition to his acting career, Hall has continued to work as a musician. He has released several albums of jazz and blues music and has performed at various venues and festivals.

Hall has been recognized for his contributions to the arts, receiving the National Association of Jazz Educators' Humanitarian Award in 1995 and the Tennessee Governor's Arts Award in 2018. He is also an advocate for social justice issues, particularly in education and the arts.
